Universal Technical Institute is an absolute rip-off! The big line from their "salespersons" are that these kids will be Porsche and Mercedes mechanics and make $100,000+ a year. Problem is - I have not heard of one person who has "graduated" from this "school". they are very adept at filing for FAFSA and other loans for students, so they get their money up-front.

The "school" does not have dorms or housing facilities, so students have to rent apartments in the West Chester, Pa. area- quite pricey and usually have to sign a lease for a year, so the parents/students are stuck.

One needs to be very suspect of ANY proprietary school - this one should just be on the "skip it " list.

Location: Trenton, New Jersey

UTI school is way over priced. If go there You Will end up with a huge Loan in the range of $50,000 plus and they take all your Grants to be use for housing, travel, books, living expenses for themselves.

They promise job placement, but sent me to a shop and the owner wasn't hiring and asked me who sent me there? After graduation You'll be lucky to find a job (even part time) Mechanics are payed very low.

Go to a community college for next to nothing or free. -Me (3 years after graduation from Uti, working in construction because not enough jobs in car mechanics.

You should know what you're talking about before you slander a good name. I know personally a BMW and a Mercedes mechanic that received their training from this "terrible" school.

They also have a food closet for students who can't afford food. No, they don't have housing or dorms, but they do provide low cost housing where you room with other students. Of course they want their money up front, so does any other vocational school.

They are a for profit organization. And it's so easy if you have issues it's because you weren't paying attention.

Oh another thing. If he or she don't graduate.

Hum, blame the school or the student. Hey, this is how I see it. If he or she don't graduate. That's one less person we don't have to question why.

He or she is prob not meant to work on cars.

But then again.

Find the prob, diagnosed how it came about. And fix it.

After looking at the majority of these comments I have to question the intelligence of most of the people complaining. Therefore, to me, the argument is invalid.

I still plan on going. If I found at least three literate negative comments I may consider changing my mind.

From the comments I can see that I am going to take my post 911 GI bill and sign up at the near by community college that offerts an automotive course.

I graduated from the houston campus in 2010. I am still looking for a job.

While I was a student, I went to multiple job counselors, and none of them were helpful. In fact every time I got a list of places that were supposedly hiring, none of them actually were. The worst part is that the main job counselor lied to me about personally knowing the owners/managers of the places that were "hiring". I got the same response from them all "I don't know her." I know owe 30k+ in loans and can't pay them back.

Just today 1/25/2014 when I went to an auto shop to see if they were hiring, they asked me how much experience I have. I told them that I graduated from uti, their response and I quote "THAT'S NOT GOOD." This isn't the first time I have been turned away from finding a job because of uti. MOST DEAERSHIPS AND SHOPS DO NOT CONSIDER GRADUATING FROM UTI AS EXPERIENCE. I have been laughed at by potential employers just for mentioning that I went their.

The instructors are great, I learned a lot, and made a tone of friends.

But for the most part it was a waste of my time and money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING THERE TO ANYONE.

In my opinion, reading the post from people that have or currently are attending the "school" is enough for me to stay away. I will now quote some of my personal favorites:

"I can has $100K dollars a year fer realz now." - Cry a rivarr

"is it realy bad? i haven tgone idk if i want 2 nay more" - josh tores

"I can assure you that we are not a scam" - difry_uti

"Tell me this people always come up to you saying don't smoke u get a random all the time so I quit just because of it is it true that they random everyone" - chris

"I had s3x with my teacher there, and gave him a b l o w job in the dyno lab. We were ghey lovers and my p00p got all over his *** and in the hot rod t-bucket." - p00p *** *** "All you *** talking bad bout the school are just a bunch of kids that never even porked your sister." - X Marine "Now I smoke a carton of Marlboros and sure as *** I ain't done raised a family in my trailer." - X Marine "If i try and do my best and applt myself." - not for sure

I am attending UTI currently and I am getting way more than my money is worth, if you gave it a try, maybe you could learn how to get that stick out of your butt, because I have heard and SEEN many successful student graduate and get into jobs that PAY THEIR TUITION FOR YOU thats 50k dollars right there, PLUS you get paid for working for them .... are you sure you arent talking about WyoTech?

Guest

I graduated Alpha Beta Kappa from UTI. I was student of the course.

I got the excellent attendance award. I applied myself and did very well in their program. I graduated in 2008, and have never been employed as an auto technician since then. The only jobs I've found willing to take on a beginning tech, are $8/hr floor sweep / oil jockeys.

That's not what you want to see after dropping $30k in tuition. UTI cares about two things. Recruiting, and getting that next payment. Some of the teachers REALLY do care, but they don't get to control the important things.

If you're thinking about going, don't.

If you insist, go to the one in Arizona. You used to be able to get an associates from them at least.

It's people like you that think you're going to make six figures in a job that the school assigned to you that throw a tantrum when someone offers you an 8/Hr. position so they can evaluate if your worth *** before they put you on flat rate.

I got offered a position EXACTLY like the one you're speaking of (8.00/Hr.) from Flow Toyota in Statesville, NC as a car porter. Oddly enough, I POLITELY declined the position because I was wildly lucky enough to be offered another position at the same time by Rush Enterprises where their starting pay was over twice what Flow offered me. If I hadn't been so lucky in being offered such an opportunity from Rush, I sure as *** wouldn't have been so insurmountably *** to reject a foot-in-the-door position. But hey, good luck at McDonald's since you're so entitled you should make assistant manager within the next five years.

Oh, and i'm glad to hear that you got excellent attendance, it must have been so tremendously difficult to sit your delicate little *** in a chair for 6 hours and listen to your instructor.

Side note, I will be graduating from NTI (NASCAR tech, UTI's campus in Mooresville) on Aug.

8 of this year (PERFECT attendance award on it's way) and already have a career waiting for me. Additionally, ALL of UTI's programs are considered associates degrees.

You're retarded sir. The numbers and prices you posted are not correct. You're probably just mad that you're to dumb to go there.

Wow, where did you apply? I had the very minimum attendance to graduate and was never student of the course and I got a job making $15 an hour and went right into a mentor program at a ford dealership. Just went flat rate after 6 months and I'm up to $25 an hour

So is UTI good or not? If i try and do my best and applt myself. Will it be worth it or not??!?!

x marine, you are a *** ***. i bet you never even paid a cent to go to school because you took it in the *** oversea....

i would love to *** kill you. uti is a *** joke, also utigrad is a *** *** face, people wonder the halls because a 3rd grader could ace every test without ever being there

Guest

I am a UTI grad. During this economic recession I was laid off from a closing dealership.

I had to wait three whole days to get another job. You dumb-*** that are *** and complaining about not being able to find a job should put down the bong, get off your ***, and look.

By the way: after graduating, and working in the field I decided I didn't like being a mechanic.

Instead of blaming my problems on UTI I changed my job title and became a service writer. Basically you get out of life what you put in so quit ***.

I graduated with a 3.5 gpa from there. So im not one of the *** kids you mentioned.

And I still have not been able to find a job with or without the help of the school. MOST DEALERSHIPS AND SHOPS DON'T CONSIDER GRADUATING FROM THERE AS REAL EXPERIENCE. ***, I took the nissan/infiniti course on top of the regular automotive coarse.

When a job recruiter from an infiniti dealership came to our class room I had a chance to speak with him. At first he was impressed about how much I know, but when I mentioned that my gpa was a 3.5, he stuck his nose up and ignored me from that point on.
