Calling to enquire about donating a car is evidently too much for the woman answering the phone. I never imagined a business being so rude to someone who is offering to give them something for FREE!

Verified Reviewer | Orlando, FloridaUniversal Technical Institute - Unfair housing charges
cleaning charges in the hundreds of dollars charged. every time they move a person in or out of a shared apartment, someone comes in and inspects and always charges for cleaning.
carpets are constantly cleaned, they clean bathrooms. you have no proof or argument with them. they charge everyone at least 60 to 160.00 for cleaning. Housing made everyone move from one apartment and they charged each student 160.00 for various cleaning charges.
that is 4x160.00. That is more than a months rent. It is outrageous what they charge. and they get away with it.
Someone needs to file a suit against them for unfair housing and charges. they charge four students 500-600 and put four students in a four bedroom. that is 2000-**** per apartment.
They are making money hand over fist!!! it is a crime.

Universal Technical Institute Automotive Program Review
This is in regards to a specific negative review, and others like it, about Universal Technical Institute. I graduated from UTI in Houston, January 2005.
Never ONCE was an associates degree mentioned. Everybody there knew it was a certificate only. You're either a liar or an ***. After graduation, I went through PTAP (Porsche) training in Atlanta, for FREE.
Afterwards, I had 22 job offers. Yes, 22! I started off at 50k per year, and 10 years later, I finally broke the 100k barrier. That's working 8-5, Monday through Friday.
All that extra time and money allowed me to attend college part-time, and I earned a Bachelors in Adult Education. As of this writing, I am now a technical trainer for another manufacturer. I make a bit less money, for now, but the benefits are excellent, and I travel to Europe about four times a year for train-the-trainer meetings. I have an awesome career!
YOUR problem, and it is YOUR problem, is that you want to make excuses for YOUR failures. You're one of those guys I remember from UTI, convinced you know everything, and too lazy to put in the work. And I call *** on those good grades you got. All my fellow students with good grades, and good attendance, were offered further FREE training, and a GUARANTEED job, with the various manufacturer apprentice programs.
I, for example, took the basic Automotive courses, no diesel or HVAC. Out of 16 courses, I was "student of the course" 12 times. My combined class and lab average was a 98.6. Oh, and I didn't miss class or show up late, either.
I worked my butt off to ensure I was one of the 12 students chosen every 6 months to attend PTAP. Guys, don't listen to this clown. He couldn't cut it, and now he wants to bad mouth UTI so his friends and family won't think he's a loser. Well, they may not know it, but REAL technicians do.
Real technicians who went to quality, proven schools like UTI, Wyo-tech, and Lincoln Tech, and put in the work. And one final thought for those of you who are reading this, and trying to decide on a technical school: if UTI is so bad, why would Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi, Volvo, Infinity, Nissan, Ford, etc., trust them with their apprentice programs?
Why would they draw their pool of applicants from there? Think about it.
Universal Technical Institute - Underperforming education, the teachers do not care, and now you have made it impossible to fail. vary bad for you and the auto world.
Hi, my name is been. i recently went to UTI and did the diesel program and the frieghtliner first program.
I was told when i talked to the people on the phone and in the school that 4-5 people get jobs in there field. i got myself a job while i was going to school and they send me emails all the time to fill out a form saying where i work and when i started so they can take credit for " GETTING ME A JOB". I was also told by the head of the education department(i wont name names) that when you graduate from UTI, the graduates make more than the guy off the street looking for a job. Most of the teachers do not care what the students do or what they learn.
An example of that is, i had 2 buddies that i went there with that were complete *** bags. they would leave the class about 30 min after it started and show back up about 30 min before class ended and the teachers never cared. while i was in i was not to inclined to ask questions to the teachers because i was told more than once that if i couldnt figure it out than i dont need to be in their class. now let me tell you, im an educated man and i also spent 4 years in the military and before the military working on vehicles.
there are things i did not know about and was belittled by the teachers. I dont care to throw this name out there MR. Flemming at the UTI Avondale campuss was the worst one at his job and treating the students like degenerates. the 3 week period i was in his diesel class he taught nothing.
we would walk into class take roll and either sit there and read from the book or go into the lab and try to do the lab sheets with no guidence. He never wrote anything on the whiye bored to teach us the fuel systems and the the differences in each of the diesel engines and i left that class learning nothing and being disrespected. i will help you and know plenty more that will to because of the underperforming education to profit they make of the students. The school took 40k from me in 1 year and 3 monthes for me to come out and make the same as if i had never gone.
they lied about their education and they have falsified there job numbers and something has to be done about it. Now they have also made the school to were no one can fail the programs. That is not the kind of people i want working on my vehicle or even on their own vehicle. I have seen first hand on what the lack of education is doing to the automotive field.
I worked for a dodge dealership and while i was working there. they hired 4 kids from UTI and all of them( not just one) didnt even know how to replace break pads. in matter of fact 2 of them still work there after blowing up 2 vehicles in aboiut a monthes period from not doing a proper oil change, and thats fter graduation.
so you can see my frustration with this. thank you and have a good day.

Universal Technical Institute - Automotive Program Review
My experience with uti all started all started with the commercials "great place to get certified automotive experience and get a great job working in the industry" what these ads should say is some here give us your money and we leave you with nothing only attended for about 4 months due to the fact there is no on campus housing and finding roommates was far from as easy as the employee who came to my house in an 80000 dollar Porsche stated basically tried to sell me on the highest possible education uti offered well the day came and i was so excited to start school here and took me 2 months to find a job to try and afford the 460 dollar rent that was due every month while making 9.15 an hour at home depot on 38 hours a week meanwhile driving 20 miles to school everyday hoping I didn't get pulled over by the mass amounts of police that hounded the school wake up at 530 to get to school by 6 get out 1-30 ish try and make it to work which was 30 minutes from the school by 2 o'clock work till 11pm then drive 40 minutes home don't have a chance to eat cause I have to shower and go to bed b4 midnight so I can try and rest b4 school the next morning I was emotionally distraught a stressed out about money and work and school I developed stomach ulcers that i needed meds couldn't sleep so my health was in bad shape eventually kept getting sick cause my body never got to rest I went there with a friend and within 4 months we both knew this school was useless barely spent time in the shop working on cars i was told by the salesman and I say salesman cause that is what the guy who comes to talk to you about the school really is said it was 50% classroom 50%shop get to school and its actually 90 % classroom to 10% shop me and my friend left this school with just about 12000 in debt for about 4 completed courses took me about 1 full year to even get my foot in the door of a repair shop since then nothing that uti even taught me was even used literally passed my ases by buying practice books i tell you they are alot cheaper then this school as ive seen people have been taking this to lawyers in hopes to get the debt scrubbed i will be doing this as well although i onlt have about 5800 dollars left tl pay.. Terrible school mot worth it get your foot in the door at a shop and learn the right way.
Universal Technical Institute - Housing Review from Oceanside, California
I have a question and im am seriously considering using my gi bill to presuse a career in the auto field and am wondering if campus has student housing seeing as how i live 5 hours away from the closest facility
UTI can either make you or you can make UTI. I chose the latter. And now I have the opportunity to work on vehicles that other techs in the shop can’t because they lack the foundational knowledge and credentials I gained while at school.
Growing up I was always surrounded by family and friends fixing up cars. They quickly became a passion of mine and I got my first job working in a parts shop. While I was now immersed in an industry I loved, I still lacked the knowledge and education to actually understand how to use the correct
tools to repair the car. It was this fascination and curiosity which ultimately led to my enrollment at UTI’s Exton campus in order to gain the skills necessary to fill this void. I decided to take a leap of faith and signed up for a campus tour. The very next day I enrolled. UTI’s schedule is very demanding but I appreciate that it allowed for opportunities to work at the same time in order to gain industry experience. Balancing both was tough but knowing now what the end result turned out to be, it was well worth it. At first it was intimidating to be entering an industry that is
very much male- and age-dominated but all I needed was someone to give me a chance. My instructors at UTI did that as did my [now current] boss at Team Toyota. So much of the knowledge, skills and experience I gained while at UTI have helped me to solve tasks and challenges I’m faced with on the job every day. I’m so thankful to have landed a long-term, rewarding career – one that I work to build upon every day. I give 110% every time I show up and I thank UTI for instilling this sense of professionalism in me. I’m the only one in my shop right now who has hybrid certification and in another year I will be a Master Tech for Toyota.
Kristen Breslin, Technician, Team Toyota
I love seeing a truck on the road that I know I fixed!
As a sophomore in high school, I made the decision to attend UTI because I knew with that education and the partner relationships that UTI has I could get my foot in the door at most service shops. I chose UTI because of the great training facility and variety of training options offered.
Upon acceptance to UTI, I moved from Washington to Arizona, which was very hard at first but then I got busy studying and working. The instructors were great and really wanted to make us technicians, not students. It was interesting being in classes with other technicians whose ages ranged from 25 to 45. At UTI, I worked and studied hard.
I left UTI with 10 PACCAR certifications and I was only 20.
I feel like I am truly valued by my employer and have a solid career. Not only do I enjoy what I do every day but I get to help my family and friends with their cars — and that feels good.
Ryker Cughan, Engine Technician, Kenworth Northwest
I wouldn’t change anything about my experience at UTI because it got me where I am today
I’ve been interested in cars since a young age when I followed my dad and his friends around while they worked on their street and race cars. As a little girl, I was interested in knowing how things work.
I used to save old stereos, cell phones and other electronics so that I could analyze them and find out more about how they worked. I learned about UTI because my dad saw a commercial on TV right around the same time that I was graduating from engineering school and had accepted my first job. He told me that UTI was everything I’d been looking for and I decided to learn more. It took me three years to quit my job and enroll at UTI but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
My favorite part about going to UTI was making valuable connections that will help me throughout the rest of my career. I had the opportunity to learn from highly trained staff members. Without the hands-on training at UTI, I would not have learned about the internship that eventually led to my employment at Roush Yates.
I have many opportunities to explore within NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula One and beyond. With the combination of my engineering education, UTI automotive technical education and eight years of experience in the industry, the career possibilities are truly limitless for me.

Universal Technical Institute - Monitary Scam Facility Review from Summerville, South Carolina
First off all I went to UTI in mooresville and took the NASCAR elective. Ok, two words "rip off".
I graduated on the directors list with a 4.0 gpa. I thought everything was going to be great, until I graduated. I was promised job placement and that the school would check in on me.
None of that ever happened. I think it was the worst financial and learning experience of my life.
Universal Technical Institute Automotive Program Review
In november 2011 i was on my way out of the army. In my chosen specialty, were not a lot of options in the civilian sector that would allow me to see my wife and kids on a regular basis.
So i decided to go to uti sacramento, i grew up familiar with cars and tinkering on engines to make them go faster, but i knew there was way more to the field than just know how to degree a camshaft. I took auto/diesel/industrial not sure what path i would take. Every tidbit of information and explanation as well as personal experience that was given to me helped tremendously. I put a great deal of effort into paying attention and trying to take in as much as possible.
I landed a job full timejob as i was going to school in a specialty shop. Had to balance a family, a job, and school. Once i graduated i moved on into another field offering better pay and great benefits. Applying mostly what i had learned from the school and the drive collected both in the military and what is also learned at the school if you apply yourself made me a valuable asset to the company as a field service technician.
Family matters sent me and my family out east to help. I then began working for volvo ce. Within 2 years i became 1 of 7 technician who were tcl-3 certified on the latest and greatest volvo had to offer out of 1062 technicians in the midsouth Pay was outstanding... once again moved back to california, landed a job at a caterpillar dealership as i was travelling to california and am currently employed with a more than favorable wage.
This is my experience. Im not the worlds greatest or fastest technician by anymeans. But the foundation that i gained from uti undoubtedly gave me a leg up on thr competition. Without proper foundation the road to the know is much longer as i have discovered working with many other many mechanics with many other backrounds.
You go to the school to learn about the technologies associated with todays machines and automobiles. Yet the technology makes more sense as you learn the older technology...which is still around, and will not go away.. which is also knowlege obtained from the school.
Sit down, pretend youre a sponge, quit worrying about what other people drive, what yoi can do to make your bucket go fast and put some effort into learning the *** to help you succeed. Every instructor i came across had a desire to actually help people learn.
But then again its not a perfect world it takes all kinds to make the world go round... you will always have shot bags and troublemakers everywhere you go. Most kids at the school *** around so much they dont learn anything. Their choice.
I gained a good amount of help from my experience at the scool. I dont have much negetive to say about it. But this is My experience not yours. You can bash it all you want.
Just know that im happy with it. Apply yourself. P.s.
every company i put time into consisently ask me when ill return. Feels good to be apreciated.
Universal Technical Institute - This School is GARBAGE!!!
How does a hands on technical school get away with giving online classes? This school is a waste of time and money!!
They are *** for all I know and I graduated from the marine side already! I sincerely hope they burn in ***!! And fix your IOL's. How is it that the IOL's mess up but I (the student) have to pay for it by not being eligible for my test?
They also like to take their sweet time giving me my refunds!!! It took 2 weeks after I graduated and many calls and cuss words for them to get it done!!
To the point where I have been to the mental institution because of how terrible this school is!!! I might get in trouble for this review but people need to know this school is garbage.

The finance "professionals" at UTI said i was guatanteed 100% of my Chapter 33 gi bill. Now 7 years later suck in a dead end oil change job and 4 schools later.
The VA wants me to repay $20,000 I was never supposed to receive in the first place...

As a previous employee I can vouch for the fact that it's all about money money money! There are some instructors that are there because they truly do want to make a difference & actually care about the students.
The Admission reps really only care about numbers & that's it. Every student is only a dollar sign!
Universal Technical Institute - NTI LIED!
Hey difry_uti,
I went to NTI in 2010. Its is a scam!
NTI LIED!!! In every aspect pertaining to the school. From the recruiter coming to my home to graduating with a job. I was supposed to be trained to get a job at the top, because I quote " I would be trained above everyone else because NTI teaches the newest and and best technology out there.
I had to settle for a job at a Ford dealership changing oil. The certifications I received is NO GOOD! They are useless. You cant even get the type of certificates with what NTI is teaching. And as far as NASCAR.
Well I couldn't even get an interview with any NASCAR teams. They don't do interviews from making appointments or walk ins. You could only get an interview with them thru you. Supposedly, but come to find out NTI was not in good standing with them. So hence changing the name and commercials.
I did hours of volunteer work as I was told I had to do for experience for nothing. You where supposed to help me get a job until I found one right. Well how come every time I went to see if there where any positions available for any team the lady working for ME said no jobs available. Go volunteer some more.
Then when I went on line there where jobs posted on the NASCAR website. She never even checked on line or any where else. She would tell me there wasn't any and tell my dad she had a list of jobs. I paid NTI over $35000 in money that you told me I would get a career in the top of my field .All I got was the run around and student loans.
From a Great Lakes who is a fraud Company. And that you would not give up on me until I had a job. Well where is my job. A and what happened to the school changing its name.
So if there is any one else who was lied to wants to get your money back we need to talk.
I want to join forces so that we can take this higher. Here is my badge to show I was not lying about the name.
