Universal Technical Institute - UTI is a great school that prepared me for a fast-growing industry
I grew up with a father who was a tank mechanic, so that helped pique my interest in the field at a young age. I enlisted in the armed forces after high school and spent the next six years in the Air Force working in electronics and telecommunications, including work on B-52s.
From there, I worked as a civilian for the Army doing preventative maintenance on diesel trucks before ultimately deciding to join the Coast Guard, where I would spend the next 17 years. As retirement loomed, I decided to pursue my true passion and become a diesel mechanic. While in the Coast Guard, I saw an advertisement for UTI, so I visited the campus in Dallas/Fort Worth and knew it was the place to build my future. I was impressed with UTIs state-of-the-industry facility plus it made the enrollment process for me, as a veteran, easy and streamlined.
While in school at UTI, I was named Student of the Course in 12 of the 15 classes I took, maintained a 4.0 GPA and made the Director's Honor List. When I graduated from UTI, Penske was my first choice for employment. They are a great company with great benefits and an extremely competitive salary, so it is a great fit for me and my family.
Penske has a management team interested in developing employees and helping them grow, and I like the fact that I get to work on varied types of trucks. UTI is a great school that prepared me for a fast-growing industry.
Reason of review: Good quality.
