Universal Technical Institute - Worked with many UTI grads
My shop has hired many UTI grads over the years and all but 1 of them has been extremely unknowledgable. I'm talking not even being able to trace a blown fuse for a cigarette lighter!
These kids wasted their money and I feel very bad for them.
If you want to work on cars, get a job at a small repair shop and learn. Even if you have to start out sweeping and being a gofer, you will learn more in 1 month than an entire year at UTI. Most of the UTI grads I know are changing oil or washing cars to pay back that horrible loan.
This is something that requires no schooling whatsoever. UTI can still make that claim that their grads are working in the automotive field even if they are washing cars for minimum wage!

Hello Anonymous. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment.
While we hate for our student population to be judged as a whole from a few individuals, it is unsettling to hear of your misfortune with the graduates you have employed and I would like to forward your information and feedback to our National Employment Department. Would you mind sending me an email with your name and contact information? I can be reached at difry@uti.edu. Thank you for your feedback!
